Microsoft have vowed to take "vigorous action" against anyone found to be playing a dodgy leaked version of Modern Warfare 2. It is thought this action could include fines and bans from the Xbox Live network (as was previously threatened when Halo 3 ODST leaked a few weeks back). The statement came after it emerged that an illegal version of the game has been filtered to users across the world via Torrent networks. The knock off title is the Xbox 360 version of the game and Microsoft have come out fighting to ensure gamers do not use the bootleg edition.

In a statement that failed to name Modern Warfare 2, it was said, "Our commitment to combating piracy and support safer and more secure game play for the more than 20 million members of our Xbox Live community remains a top priority. All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 to play pirated discs violates the Xbox Live terms of use, will void their warranty and will result in a ban from Xbox Live. The health of the video game business depends on customers buying genuine products and services they receive from manufacturers, retailers and the third parties that support them."

The statement concluded with, "We take vigorous action against illegal activity related to our products and services but we do not comment on those details." We thinks that Microsoft are not too happy about this then! Well if this statement doesn't put you off then we don't know what will.
